Στα 14 της έπεσε θύμα σεξουαλικής κακοποίησης από έναν 17χρονο. Στα 19 της πρωταγωνίστησε σε ντοκιμαντέρ του Netflix όπου μίλησε ανοικτά για το bullying που δέχτηκε μετά τον βιασμό της. Στα 23 της αυτοκτόνησε η Ντέιζι Κόλμαν.

Την αυτοκτονία της ανακοίνωσε η μητέρα της στο Facebook, γράφοντας: «Ήταν η καλύτερη μου φίλη και μία καταπληκτική κόρη. Νομίζω ότι έπρεπε να το κάνει να φαίνεται σαν να μπορούσα να ζήσω χωρίς αυτήν. Liking a post on Instagram or Facebook didn’t feel enough for Daisy Coleman. Daisy Coleman was a pioneer for women’s rights, a survivor and advocate at an devastatingly young age. Daisy survived the loss of her father and her youngest brother. She survived systemic sexism, painful ostracisation, threats to her family and her own life. Her family home was burnt down, she was vilified and run out of town. The reason for all this wickedness? She was a young girl pressing charges against her abusers. Abusers that benefited from the power of privilege and entrenched sexism. I watched the Daisy and Audrie documentary in horror. Daisy’s story triggered many women’s traumatic lived experiences. For many of us, the age 14 is when we begin to feel unsafe and unduly harassed. We change from trusting and protected children to something else. Something that warrants abusive predatory behaviour. We are dehumanised and hyper-sexualised. I only wish Daisy could have realised how important she was for so many young girls. I wish she could have made it. Daisy you were inspirational, vulnerable and ever so endearing. The world should have treated you kinder, I hope you find some peace with your father and brother. Η Κόλμαν ισχυρίστηκε ότι δέχτηκε επίθεση ενώ ήταν μεθυσμένη από ένα 17χρονο αγόρι, τον Μάθιου Μπάρνετ, σε ένα πάρτι τον Ιανουάριο του 2012, όταν ήταν 14 ετών.

Su madre, Melinda, dio a conocer que su hija se suicidó el martes por la noche. Fue encontrada sin vida en su vivienda.??? Daisy fue violada a los 14 años, en 2012, en una fiesta en el estado de Missouri. Los responsables nunca fueron detenidos. En 2016, participó en el documental de Netflix que se centra en cómo Daisy y su familia lidiaron con el trauma de la agresión y el rechazo que sintieron después por su comunidad. La joven fue hostigada tanto en la escuela como en línea. En enero de 2012, la madre de Daisy descubrió a su hija de 14 años inconsciente en el jardín. Ella había sido abandonada allí durante la noche por Matthew Barnett, de 17 años. La joven afirmó que Barnett la había animado a beber hasta que se desmayó. Fue solo cuando su madre la llevó a la sala de emergencias al día siguiente que los médicos confirmaron que Daisy mostraba signos de haber sido violada. La menor denunció el asalto a la policía local, y aunque los detectives llevaron a Barnett para interrogarlo, pronto retiraron los cargos de asalto contra él, citando evidencia insuficiente. Sus vecinos la llamaban “puta mentirosa”. Fue acosada implacablemente. El acoso se hizo tan severo que su familia tuvo que mudarse de ciudad, y Daisy intentó suicidarse dos veces. Audrie & Daisy también se centra en la agresión sexual a Audrie Pott en septiembre de 2012 en California. Audrie se suicidó diez días después del ataque.
